About the Idyll Diaries…

Throughout the pages of this website readers can find an archive of my Asian travel journals, photography galleries and videos. Visitors will also find little snippets of travel advice alongside tales of lessons learned during my time on the road . In addition I aim to provide reviews (of accommodation options, eating establishments and services) for fellow shoe-string travellers wandering Asia.

About the Author…

My name is Fiona. I’m 28 years old.

On the 21st October 2009 my sister and I quit our jobs, left our little town in Scotland and set off for an eight month adventure that would take us through India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.  My Family had hoped the trip would rid me of the urge to travel and expected me to settle down on my return. I had other ideas. In my mind the trip had been a great learning experience, a practice run.  In February 2012 I excitedly returned to India where I spent my first month as a solo traveller.

The vast majority of those following me are probably my family and friends checking in to make sure I’m still alive. I hope those remaining are contingent of fellow travellers, bloggers and daydreamers.
