Vientiane.

I was Laos bound for the last leg of my trip.  I had to travel via Bangkok before crossing the border and traveling on to Vientiane.  My journey was spent with a man named Taj from New York City.  He proved to be a wonderful travel companion and effortlessly filled an all-night journey with lighthearted tales of his misadventures in Bangkok. We spend a few hours over breakfast before finding ourselves a pretty little guesthouse by the river. I spent a couple of days relaxing in the capital city.  Vientiane was without doubt the most laid back capital city I had encountered to date. Life seemed to go dreamily by in a city dotted with temples, rivers and cafes serving delicious French cuisine. I spent hours wandering the city stopping for coffees and a little shopping along the way.  Vientiane’s inhabitants were open and friendly and they made me feel comfortable in their city. It would’ve been easy to stay there longer but my days were numbered and I wanted to see what else Laos had to offer.

About fiona

My name is Fiona and I'm 28 years old. On the 21st October 2009 my sister and I quit our jobs, left our little town in Scotland and set off for an eight month adventure that would take us through India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. My Family had hoped the trip would rid me of the urge to travel and expected me to settle down on my return. I had other ideas. In my mind the trip had been a great learning experience, a practice run. In February 2012 I’ll be excitedly returning to India where I’ll spend my first month as a solo traveler. May our paths be destined to cross...
